Welcome
to Yelena's Fine Art Gallery website. You can preview samples of my
fine art work by clicking on fine art gallery link. These pieces were
created using watercolor, pencil, and mixed media techniques.
I began my over thirty-year involvement with the world of art
at the Art School For Gifted Children in Kharkov from which I graduated
and then attended the Art Industrial Institute of Kharkov, Ukraine.
I immigrated to the United States with my family in 1989 and received
an Associate of Arts degree in Fine Arts from Laney College in Oakland
in 1995. I have continued to broaden my artistic knowledge and expertise
through local classes and self-study. Currently, I am in a process
of completing my BA degree in Art at the San Francisco State University
(San Francisco, CA).
My work can be found in private collections in Europe and the United
States. My emphasis to date has been in watercolor and mixed media,
but I enjoy other avenues of expression, and I am planning to place
more emphasis on oil painting and graphic illustration. I have worked
with a broad range of subject matter accented by portraiture and flowers.
Recently I have been working on compositions combining floral elements
with different animals and insects.
I've been teaching watercolor techniques in classroom workshops and
giving private lessons to children and adults.
